Maryville-Alcoa Civitan Club

Civitan International is an association of volunteer service clubs, with more than 40,000 total members across the globe.  The worldwide mission of Civitan International is to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities.  Our club serves Blount County by providing our target community ways to improve their lives through social interaction and support for all local Special Olympics competitions to include the State of Tennessee Winter Olympics.  We fundraise and donate to other organizations that serve our target community.  We assist Blount County Parks and recreation in raising money for Special Olympics.  We sponsor both a spring and Christmas dance for folks from the Gate, many group homes and at home individuals to give them a social outlet where they can be themselves and just have fun.

If you think this is an organization you would like to be part of,  see our contact page for information.  If you would like to come to a meeting for information, we meet at the Parkview Retirement Community, 1413 W. Broadway, Maryville in the first floor activity room on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 12:00.

We had a fundraising drive to raise funds for repair and upgrade of our Special Peoples Park. Through the generosity of both large and small donors here in Blount County we exceeded our goal by more than $5000. Every penny raised will be spent on the park. This enabled us to repair and strengthen the wheelchair ramp to the Little river, replace all four of the picnic tables, replace all four of the old BBQ grills and put up all new handicapped signage. We hope to be finished by March 2019 at which time a major cleanup and painting project will be finished. A grand opening of the park is planned at a future date.
